What is an Apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships refer to on-the-job training leading to industry recognised qualifications What are the entry requirements for a NiTP Apprenticeship in IT? For the NITP IT Apprenticeship the main age criteria is that you need to be between 16 and 18, although there are a limited number of spaces for 19 - 24 year olds. You need to have a minimum of five A–C grades at GCSE, including Maths and English or Key Skills Level 2 in Application of Number and Communication. To be join one of our IT Apprenticeships. You must also have a very keen interest in IT Support and be seeking a career in this field. How often will I attend training with NiTP when studying towards an IT Apprenticeship? You will be expected to attend training for approximately 13 weeks during your one year IT Apprenticeship programme. The remainder of your time will be with your employer obtaining valuable 'on the job' support. What will a NiTP IT Apprentice be able to do at the end of the course?
What hours will I be expected to attend? Training runs from 9am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday. You will be expected to attend during these hours. When you are in the workplace you will work to the hours set by your employer. |
What is expected of me as an IT Apprentice?
Should you be accepted onto the NiTP IT Apprenticeship programme, we will work with you to secure a job. You will not be an IT Apprentice until that job search is completed. With this comes the responsibility of being an IT professional in the workplace. This means you need to attend every day and arrive on time, you treat your colleagues with respect and you put in that extra effort that allows you to leave us with the excellent qualifications employers are looking for. The course is very intense and will require a high level of commitment from you. We are looking for mature young people who have a desire to succeed in the IT sector. I may want to go to University after the course. Is this the right programme for me? Yes. You will be studying Level 3 qualifications equivalent to A Levels. This allows you to gain entry to many universities should you wish to. I already have an employer. Can I still join one of the NITP IT Apprenticeships? Yes. If your employer agrees to the NiTP schedule and agrees to allow you to attend training on the specified dates, then that is not a problem. What are the NITP IT Apprenticeships programme like? You will be learning about all aspects of IT support and learning new skills related to this sector. While you are with NiTP there will be a good mixture of hands-on practical work and written work. You will be taught in one of our high-spec training rooms with access to excellent equipment. Training will be made as interactive as possible, with access to e-learning provided for each IT Apprentice. You will be expected to complete practical assessments and written assignments, as well as examinations. As well as teaching you the skills needed for IT support careers, we will also teach you about being a professional and how to succeed in the workplace. |
